Great location. Apartment was spacious and had good views.

I had two issues with the Posada San Jose. 1. It was not clear from the materials at Booked.net that the apartment was in a separate building down the street, not the restored monestary in the pictures. 2. Also, the kitchen in the apartment was dirty (some sticky spilled liquid in the silverware drawer, cutting board not washed...), and staff was not responsive to our comments about it - they called the cleaning woman who said it had been cleaned, and that was the end of it.

Excellent value for money hotel - wonderful views - excellent staff. Everywhere was clean. Excellent location for everything.

Location was excellent in the old town. View from the restaurant was fantastic -- and highly recommend the food, which was also a good value / delicious local specialties. The management/reception was very hospitable and let us use their internet connection to check our flights and print out boarding passes.

I was disappointed with the location of our room, which had no view and was quite dark, although otherwise comfortable. Be sure to ask for a view either of the garden or the gorge (higher price rooms). I have come to the conclusion that the better rooms in Spanish hotels are ones with twin beds, rather than double, so don't insist on a double bed.

Superb location with wonderful views, friendly staff.

The room was elegantly, indeed stylishly, furnished and the location of the hotel excellent. We had stayed there twice before. They were very helpful at reception and, though parking outside the hotel is very limited, they do offer a discount at the nearby underground car park.

A very special hotel in a fabulous location in the heart of Cuenca. Our room had a private terrace with terrific views of the Hueca valley and the imposing parador on the hilltop opposite. The restaurant was closed the day we visited (Monday) so I cannot comment on the food but there are several excellent places to eat within 2 minutes walk.

The location of the hotel was absolutely fantastic - our main reason for choosing it for our overnight stay. We had a room with a wonderful view of the hanging houses of Cuenca. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are very much inkeeping with the age and type of hotel, but are rather basic.

Our only complaint was that breakfast did not start at the supposed time of 8am - as we had a very long day ahead travelling, we were unable to wait for it to commence.

The experience started with the friendly reception and a room with breathtaking views across the gorge. Drinks on the terrace and dinner in the hotel topped of an exploration of Cuenca which was just outside the door. Parking was easy and free just up the hill.

Ecellent warmth of welcome. A beautifully restored old building in a first class location with some if the best views in the area.

The only omission was the lack of wi-fi.

Great location and character filled hotel. Restaurant offers great meals.

    No internet access.

Lovely views, lots of historical character, very good breakfast with fruits & yoghurts as well as homemade cakes & breads and the usual spainish hams & cheeses,. Very good dining also with local cuisine& wine! staff were also great! say no more!

A beautiful old building with lots of charm and great views. The building was reputedly owned by the Velazquez family so there is that association with Spain's great painter. What great change from those impersonal, large hotels. Parking can be a problem but we found free parking up the road past the arched gateway in the wall. Also secure parking available very close by for 16e a day.

We have booked a room with the mountain view. There are not many rooms in this hotel. From our observation, there are only two twin rooms having the mountain and valley view. One has balcony, but one without. Our booked room has a balcony. Therefore I think we had been assigned the best room for the mountain view in this hotel. Remember, the room number is 24. This hotel is refitted from an historic Catholic chorus school. And hence the internal environment gives me a feeling of living in an ancient building. Although there is no air conditioning, the temperature is not hot in Cuenca during the day in late September. But you may even feel cold at night. We enjoy sitting in front of the balcony and watching the valley all the times. I myself even enjoy standing at the balcony with all the room light turned off at night. You can watch the star in the sky, or enjoy the great feeling of standing in front of the deep valley with yourself immered in the dark of the night. Try it. The room facilities are simple but clean. I feel very comfortable to stay here. The hotel location is very close to the main square and the Cathedral. Therefore it only takes a 5-minute walk to watch the hanging building, Casas Colgadas. Besides, although the night-time receptionist does not know English, she is very very nice and helpful. I will recommand all my friends to book this room if they visit Cuenca.

We had a fabulous room with two outlooks over the town. Fabulous huge spa bath and shower - perfect for a couple whether young or mature! Friendly helpful staff and the whole stay was perfectly completed by an excellent dinner.
